CLEAR ANSWERS FOR OVERSEAS HOMEOWNERS

Furniture Sourcing from China – Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about remote sourcing, Foshan visits, bespoke manufacturing, quality inspections, and international container shipping for your home.

01 / PLANNING YOUR SOURCING JOURNEY

Before You Start

Essential guidance on project scope, remote vs in-person sourcing, and how to prepare before reaching out to manufacturers.

Can I source furniture from China without visiting China?

Is It Worth Coming to China to Source Furniture?

Yes. Both options have their advantages. If possible, I recommend spending a few days in China, as seeing the products and materials in person makes the sourcing process much more efficient. If you’re unable to visit, that’s also fine. As long as you trust us to work on your behalf, we can manage the sourcing remotely and provide the same follow-up, inspection and shipping coordination services.

It depends on your project. For a whole-house project, it usually makes sense because the shipping cost is spread across a larger order. It’s also worthwhile if you want better quality for the same budget or need customized furniture.

Is sourcing from China suitable for a single home or villa project?

What information should I send before we start?

Yes. Sourcing from China is ideally suited for whole-home furnishings, villa renovations, or apartment fits where you order multiple pieces to make sea container shipping financially advantageous.

First, make a clear list of what you need for each room. Dimensions are very important, so prepare the key measurements and some style references, especially for furniture. If you’re coming to China, also check your visa requirements, book your hotel, and make sure you have suitable internet access while you’re here.

How many days should I plan for a sourcing trip to China?

It depends on what you need to source. Based on our experience, if everything is well planned in advance, 4–7 days is usually enough for most whole-house sourcing projects.

02 / TRANSPARENT COORDINATION

Working With Lisa

Clear details on buyer-side project management fees, payments, supplier audits, and multi-category coordination.

What exactly can you help me with?

How does your sourcing fee work?

Sourcing from China is not just about finding products. There are thousands of suppliers, different levels of quality, and many details that can easily be missed if you don’t know what to look for.

I see my role as being the person on your side here in China. With years of experience in Foshan, I help you choose the right suppliers, check the details, follow the orders, inspect the goods, and coordinate everything until shipment.

I can’t promise that every project will be perfect, but I can promise that I will care about your project, pay attention to the details, and do my best to protect your interests. That is the value I want to bring to every client.

I work on a transparent service fee structure based on a fixed project management tier or a small percentage of total purchase value. There are no hidden markups—all factory prices are passed directly to you.

Do I pay you or the factories directly?

Can you work with suppliers I have already found?

Usually, you can pay the suppliers directly. However, some suppliers may not have foreign currency accounts. In that case, if you prefer, we can make the payment to the supplier on your behalf.

Yes, of course. If you already have suppliers you’d like to work with, I can include them in the project and help with order follow-up, inspection, consolidation and shipping coordination.

Can you source furniture, lighting, sanitary ware, tiles and other home products together?

Yes. Foshan is the capital for home building materials. We routinely combine loose furniture& customization wardrobe& closet , architectural lighting, vanity units, tiles, outdoor sets, and sanitary fixtures into one consolidated project container.

03 / BESPOKE CRAFTSMANSHIP

Products & Customization

How photo matching, custom carpentry, fabric selections, and exact dimensions are engineered with Chinese factories.

Can you source furniture from a reference image?

Can you help with custom-made furniture?

Yes. There are usually two options. We can use your image as a style reference and look for similar existing products, or we can customize based on the image. For custom-made pieces, please note that it is not a 1:1 replica. There may be some differences from the original, but we will aim to achieve the overall look, shape and style.

Yes. Custom furniture manufacturing in China is very well developed, and many suppliers can make single piece without a minimum order quantity. Size, material, color and other details can all be customized. When working from a reference image, the result can often be very close to the original, but a 100% exact replica cannot be guaranteed.

How Do You Choose the Right Suppliers for My Project?

Can I change the size, material, color or fabric?

Different factories have different strengths, and no single factory is good at everything. I prefer to choose the right supplier for each product rather than place everything with one factory just for convenience. If a product is outsourced instead of made by the factory itself, there can be more factors outside our control. Sometimes managing more suppliers means more work, but it gives us better control over the final result.

Yes. Most factories can adjust the size, color, fabric or material. These are usually standard options and don’t necessarily mean the product needs to be fully customized.

Can a factory match a color exactly?

Is it better to buy ready-made furniture or have it custom-made?

Colors are usually confirmed with a physical sample before production, and the factory will follow the approved sample as closely as possible. However, some color variation can still occur due to the material or production process, so a 100% exact match cannot always be guaranteed.

It depends. If you can find an existing design you like, I usually recommend choosing it first. The price is often better, the production process is more mature and stable, and the lead time is usually shorter. Custom-made furniture makes more sense when existing designs cannot meet your requirements.

04 / INSPECTION & TIMELINES

Production & Quality Control

How we safeguard quality, enforce specs, perform physical factory checks, and correct issues before loading.

How long does furniture production normally take?

Do you inspect products before shipping?

Furniture production usually takes around 30–60 days. Existing designs are generally faster, while custom-made furniture usually takes around 50–60 days. Lead times also depend on the season — production is usually faster in the first half of the year and may take longer during the busy season after September.

Yes, definitely. We inspect the goods before shipment and send you photos and videos for review. I take this very seriously because major after-sales issues are a headache for both you and me. It’s always better to find and solve problems before the goods leave China.

What happens if you find a problem during inspection?

How do you follow up production?

If we find a problem during inspection, we will report it to the supplier and ask them to correct it before shipment. We will then follow up and confirm that the issue has been properly addressed before shipping.

We start following up as soon as the order is placed and check with the supplier at key stages throughout production. This helps us keep track of the progress and identify any issues as early as possible.

05 / CONSOLIDATION & LOGISTICS

Shipping & Delivery

Everything about warehouse consolidation, sea freight transit, international packaging, insurance, and door delivery.

Can products from different suppliers be consolidated into one shipment?

Do you arrange international shipping?

Yes, absolutely. For a whole-house project, this is essential. We coordinate the goods from different suppliers, consolidate them in one place, and arrange them together for shipment.

Yes. We work with reliable and experienced freight forwarders in China to arrange international shipping and help coordinate the shipment until the goods reach your destination.

How long does the whole sourcing and shipping process normally take?

How is furniture packed for international shipping?

For most projects, I recommend allowing at least 3–5 months for production and shipping. Production usually takes around 35–60 days, while international shipping and customs clearance may take another 1.5–2 months depending on the destination. If your project has a fixed deadline, it’s always better to allow some extra time.

Most factories use their standard export packaging. Before shipping, we check whether the packaging is suitable for the product and shipping method, and arrange extra protection or reinforced packaging when necessary.

Do you arrange installation in the customer's country?

What happens if something is damaged or missing after delivery?

Installation needs to be arranged locally by the customer. However, when needed, the suppliers can provide installation instructions, drawings or videos to guide your local installers.

We check the packing list before shipment to minimize the chance of missing items. If something is still missing after delivery, we will coordinate with the supplier to arrange replacement parts. Minor damage from transportation can sometimes happen and is usually more practical to repair locally. For more serious issues, we will review the situation and work with the supplier on a suitable solution.
